Northern Health Centers, Inc. is seeking a Full time Billing Assistant at our Lakewood location to join our administrative team.  This position provides administrative support to the Finance Department. 
The primary functions include:

  • Answer patient inquiries via phone or in person
  • Making collection calls
  • Researching denials
  • Investigating outstanding insurance claims
  • Submit medical, dental and Behavioral health claims
  • Posting payments for insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Pay
  • Other Duties as assigned

  • To be successful in the Billing Assistant position, you must have:

    • High School Diploma
    • 2+  years’ in Medical  and/or Dental Billing
    • EPIC knowledge strongly preferred

    Who receives benefits?

    Full-time (38-40 hours worked each week) and Exempt employees are eligible to participate in the group health insurance plan with coverage effective the first day hire.



    Health Insurance offered to Employees

    Northern Health Centers, Inc. offers high deductible health insurance plan with a Health Savings Account. Health Savings Accounts are offered in conjunction with high deductible insurance plans to help offset the costs of the deductible. Pre-tax dollars are placed into the account (contributed by the employee). The monies in the account can be used on health expenses accumulated on the day the account opened or after.

    Staff Credit Benefits for Services Received at NHC


    Northern Health Centers, Inc. offers staff a program for services received at our Health Centers.  All Full time employees will receive $500 and Part time employees will receive $250 for services for themselves and their dependents. The Health Centers will bill first for any applicable insurance coverage, and then the employee will bring in their statement from Northern Health Centers, Inc. to the Human Resource Department to be adjusted towards the benefit.  The credit is not an adjustment to the balance, this is a payment made by Northern Health Centers, Inc. on behalf of the staff member and should be considered an employee benefit. To maintain this benefit, you must routinely work your regularly scheduled hours.  Outside services (for example, dental lab fees, foot levelers, etc.) may not be discounted below cost.     NHC is a National Health Service Corps approved site, allowing qualified providers to apply for federal loan repayment.  Additionally, our site qualifies providers to apply to Wisconsin’s Health Professions Loan Assistance Programs for additional loan repayment support.


    Paid Time Off (PTO)


    This is a plan which covers vacations, sick time, and any other time off.  PTO is accrued based on hours worked for hourly employees and hours scheduled for salaried employees.
